Cosplay Contact Lens Reviews: Moody Lenses
I tried 3 colored contact lenses from Moody Lenses, including dailies and a red lens for cosplay!

Contact lenses are considered medical devices by the FDA. In the US you must obtain a prescription from a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist to order cosplay contacts.
Never use expired or damaged lenses. Never re-use daily contact lenses. For longer term lenses, never reuse contact lens fluid to store your lenses and always use fresh fluid. Always store your right contact in the right side of the case and left contact in the left side of the case to prevent cross-contamination. Always wash your hands before putting on the lenses.
Vendors like Pinky Paradise and Uniqso are retailers for 3rd party brands that sometimes develop their own lines. Unlike them, Moody exclusively sells their own contact lenses. Most cosplay lenses are reusable for periods of 6-12 months, but Moody specializes in a variety of daily colored contacts, which interested me. I probably only wear my cosplays twice a year so it seems like a waste to use 6-12 month lenses. I definitely think I can get more use out of one order of daily cosplay contacts especially since they don’t expire for a long while. Additionally, not only are daily lenses more sanitary, but I also find them to be more comfortable and hydrating, which is ideal for conventions.
I picked 3 colors from Moody to review, of which two are daily and one has a 6 month replacement cycle. I am near-sighted so I ordered them all with my prescription power. I was able to get 20% off my order, so they were pretty affordable!
I love their branding and packaging too. My order came with a cute case for the 6 month lenses and a free applicator and tweezer set.

I have dark eyes so I hope this review is helpful for those of you that have difficulty with colors showing up on your eyes. Here are my bare natural eyes, for reference:

These are the only lenses in my order that were not dailies. It seems like Moody’s selection of daily green lenses are limited as most of their green lenses are 6 month.
Natural green lenses are my holy grail and so far these are the most natural I have tried! The pupils are the perfect size - realistically small but not intrusive. The diameter is not too big, which is a problem I have with most contact lenses. They are still not as realistic as the other two in my review (there is just something a bit uncanny about the saturation of the color). They’re also less comfortable, likely due to the 6 month lifespan, so I knocked off a point. (Are green lenses difficult to make or something??)

The color on these is absolutely stunning. They are such a beautiful soft blue, but I had to rate it down because the pupils are just too noticeably big. It looks like all their dailies have large pupils, which makes sense as large pupils are less obtrusive for daily wear. But, on this one it is very noticeable due to the unique bright color. If the pupils were just a bit smaller I would have rated these a 10.
In terms of comfort, these daily lenses are extremely soft and comfortable to wear. They were easy to put on and I barely felt them. They are more comfortable than my regular every day prescription lenses!

These are the ideal red lenses for cosplay. They are just as comfortable and unintrusive as the blue, but the pupil size works. The red blends in with my dark eyes and they have a perfectly natural diameter. Many red lenses don’t show up on my eyes, but these are saturated without compromising realism. I could easily see myself wearing these all day at a con with minimal discomfort.
Final Thoughts
All the Moody lenses I tried are very natural looking. The dailies in particular are extremely soft and comfortable, and are just what I have been looking for! I found all the lenses to be softer than any other cosplay contacts I have tried, and that is shown in the fact that Moody has received the highest ratings for a contact lens review I’ve done so far! I didn’t have any redness after trying on 3 lenses in a row. I will definitely be a repeat customer and am looking forward to trying more of their daily colored contacts!
